Chemical names: Quinapril
ACCUPRIL Drug Use: Accupril is for the treatment of high blood pressure. It belongs to a class of drugs know as ACE Inhibitors. Accupril is often given in conjunction with a diuretic (water pill) which will increase urine production (drug name Accuretic). ACE inhibitors work by preventing angiotensin 1 from converting to a more powerful form that will increase water retention.
ACCUPRIL Drug Usage Instructions: Accupril can be taken with or without food. Accupril is usually taken once a day, preferably at the same time of the day. Avoid alcohol when taking Accupril as it can affect absorption. Always take as directed by your doctor. It's important to take Accupril on a regular basis to see the maximum effect. Never stop taking until speaking to your physician.
ACCUPRIL Storage Instructions: Protect from light and can be stored at room temperature.
ACCUPRIL Missed Dose: If you miss a dose take as soon as possible except if it's near the time for your next dose, if this is the case just take your regular dose and continue as normal.
ACCUPRIL Side Effects: The most common side effects of Accupril are headache and dizziness. Some of the less common are coughing, fatigue, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.
Special Precautions with ACCUPRIL: Do not take if allergic to Accupril or any of its’ constituents. Also do not take if you have had previous problems with any of the other ACE inhibitors. If you have problems breathing or swallowing contact your doctor immediately.
