Chemical names: Naproxen sodium

ANAPROX Drug Use: Anaprox ds and Naprelan are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used to relieve mild to moderate pain and menstrual cramps. Anaprox ds and Naprelan are also prescribed for relief of the inflammation, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis (the most common form of arthritis), and for spinal arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, acute gout, and other conditions. Anaprox ds also may be prescribed for juvenile arthritis. The over-the-counter form of naproxen sodium, Aleve, is used for temporary relief of minor aches and pains, and to reduce fever.

ANAPROX Drug Usage Instructions: Be sure to take Anaprox ds exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor may ask you to take Anaprox ds with food or an antacid to avoid stomach upset. Take Aleve with a full glass of water.

ANAPROX Storage Instructions: Store Anaprox ds in a tightly closed container at room temperature.

ANAPROX Missed Dose: Anaprox: Never take 2 doses of Anaprox ds at the same time. Take the forgotten Anaprox ds dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next Anaprox ds dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule.

ANAPROX Side Effects: Take the forgotten dose of Anaprox ds only if you remember within 2 hours after the appointed time. Otherwise, skip the Anaprox ds dose and go back to your regular schedule.

Special Precautions with ANAPROX: More common side effects of Anaprox ds may include: abdominal pain, bruising, constipation, diarrhea, difficult or labored breathing, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, hearing disturbances, heartburn, indigestion, inflammation of the mouth and itching. Other less common side effects of Anaprox ds may include light-headedness, nausea, rapid, fluttery heartbeat, red or purple spots on the skin, ringing in the ears, skin eruptions, sweating, swelling due to fluid retention, thirst, vertigo, vision changes.
