ATARAX Drug Use: Atarax is an antihistamine and is used in the treatment of allergic reactions. Atarax will decrease the itching and redness of an allergic reaction. Antihistamines decrease the release of histamine which will also dry up the secretions that are associated with allergic reactions. Atarax will also relieve some of the symptoms of anxiety and tension if taken exactly according to the prescription.
ATARAX Drug Usage Instructions: Take Atarax just according to your doctor’s prescription. Atarax is usually taken up to twice a day, depending on the severity of the condition.
ATARAX Storage Instructions: Atarax is packaged in a gelatin capsule, so Atarax must be kept in a cool dry place. Keep Atarax out of reach of children.
ATARAX Missed Dose: If you miss a dose of Atarax, take it as soon as you remember unless it's almost time for your next Atarax dose. If this is the case, skip the last Atarax dose and assume your regular Atarax prescription schedule. Do not double up on Atarax doses.
ATARAX Side Effects: Atarax, like any medication, can cause nausea and vomiting. Atarax, if not taken according to the prescription, can cause drowsiness and dry mouth, which are amplified with the intake of alcohol. There are many more side effects of Atarax that can occur, so you should not take Atarax without the doctor's prescription and if you have any occurrences out of the ordinary when taking Atarax you should contact your doctor immediately.
Special Precautions with ATARAX: Atarax can increase the effects of other drugs for example alcohol, narcotics, analgesics and barbiturates. Remember that drowsiness is the number one side effect of Atarax and will be increased with alcohol.
