Chemical names: Ipratropium Bromide
ATROVENT Drug Use: Atrovent. Is used in the treatment of asthma symptoms associated with COPD( chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). When the inhalation aerosol is is it will open up the bronchial airways and allow more airflow into the lungs, making breathing easier. Atrovent is also available as a nasal spray for nasal allergies. And runny nose symptoms. For either of these Atrovent is not intended to be for fast relief, it will not work immediately and needs to be taken over a period of time to work properly.
ATROVENT Drug Usage Instructions: Atrovent is usually given 2 to four times a day. The dosage is usually 2 puffs 2 to four times a day. It is important to remember that with any inhaler you should not take 2 puffs in rapid succession. If you are taking 2 puffs, you should wait about 30 seconds between the first and second puffs.
ATROVENT Storage Instructions: Atrovent inhalers can be kept at room temperature, but out of the sunlight.
ATROVENT Missed Dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember except if you are near the time for your next dose. If this happens just resume normal schedule, do not double up on doses.
ATROVENT Side Effects: The most common side effects are: blurred vision, cough, dry mouth, nausea, nervousness, rapid heartbeat, and stomach upset. If any of these occur or are bothersome, please contact your doctor.
Special Precautions with ATROVENT: If any allergic reactions occur contact doctor immediately. If you are allergic to soybean or soy products you shouldn’t take this medication.
