Pronounced: BAIT-ah-gan
Chemical names: Levobunolol hydrochloride

BETAGAN Drug Use: Betagan eyedrops are given to treat chronic open-angle glaucoma. Betagan is in a class called beta blockers. It works by lowering pressure within the eyeball.

BETAGAN Drug Usage Instructions: Use exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Administer Betagan eyedrops as follows:

BETAGAN Storage Instructions: 1.Wash your hands thoroughly 2.Gently pull your lower eyelid down to form a pocket between your eye and eyelid. 3.Hold the bottle on the bridge of your nose or on your forehead 4.Do not touch the applicator tip to any surface, including your eye 5.Tilt your head back and squeeze the medication into your eye 6.Close your eyes gently 7.Keep your eyes closed for 1 to 2 minutes 8.Wait 5 to 10 minutes before using any other eyedrops 9.Do not rinse the dropper

BETAGAN Missed Dose: Store at room temperature, away from the light.

BETAGAN Side Effects: Do not take two doses at once. If you take Betagan once a day, use it as soon as you remember. If you do not remember until the next day, skip the dose you missed and go back to your regular dosage schedule. If you take Betagan 2 or more times a day, use it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular dosage schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Special Precautions with BETAGAN: Betagan and beta blockers may cause muscle weakness, weakened muscles around the eyes which may cause double vision or drooping eyelids.
