Drug Name: CAPOTEN

Chemical names: Captopril

CAPOTEN Drug Use: Captopril is a drug in the ACE inhibitor class. It’s used for congestive heart failure, high blood pressure. It prevents a chemical known as angiotensin 1 from converting to angiotensin 11. This drug is also used for kidney treatment in diabetics.

CAPOTEN Drug Usage Instructions: Capoten should be taken 2 to three times a day as directed by doctor. This medication should be taken on an empty stomach (one hour before eating) Antacids (Tums etc) should be taken at least 2 hours before Capoten or it will decrease the effectiveness of this drug.

CAPOTEN Storage Instructions: Store at room temperature away from direct sunlight.

CAPOTEN Missed Dose: Take drug as soon as you remember unless it’s too close to the time for the next dose. If this is the case skip the dose and resume your regular schedule.

CAPOTEN Side Effects: The main side effects of this medication are: loss of taste, rash, low blood pressure, itching and cough.

Special Precautions with CAPOTEN: You should not take this drug if you are allergic to it or any of its constituents. If you develop swelling of the face lips tongue, see your doctor immediately and go to the emergency at the hospital.
