COUMADIN Drug Use: Coumadin is used to thin the blood (anticoagulant). Coumadin is generally used in people who have blood clots to help thin out the clot and prevent more clots from forming. This drug in turn will decrease the risk of stroke and heart attack.
COUMADIN Drug Usage Instructions: Coumadin dosage can be very difficult. During the course of coumadin drug, in the beginning you mat be tested daily to determine your clotting rate. The coumadin dose may continually be adjusted to get the correct reading. After being stabilized on Coumadin dosage you will still be required to go to the hospital once a week and get your clotting rate checked.
COUMADIN Storage Instructions: Store Coumadin at room temperature. This drug should be kept out of direct sunlight.
COUMADIN Missed Dose: If you miss a dose of coumadin, you must contact the pharmacy or doctor to determine what their recommendation is.
COUMADIN Side Effects: The worst side effect of Coumadin is if the level is too high can be hemorrhage. Coumadin should be taken with a prescription, as it can cause severe bleeding, loss of blood, shock, weakness, headache, chest pain, muscle pain.
Special Precautions with COUMADIN: The dose of Coumadin drug has to be followed very carefully. If Coumadin dosage is too high the risk of hemorrhage is very high, if the Coumadin dose is too low you run the risk of clotting and heart attack and/or stroke.
