Chemical names: Flourouracil

EFUDEX Drug Use: Efudex is used to treat actinic or solar keratoses(basically growths that are caused by overexposure to radiation or the sun).If not treated this can develop into skin cancer.

EFUDEX Drug Usage Instructions: Usual dose is 2 times a day and continue until skin wears away then a sore forms and the skin cells then die. Make sure to use this medication carefully around the eyes nose, and mouth as these are considered mucous membranes and are very thin. Always thoroughly wash hands after applying this drug. Your doctor may want you to cover the area with gauze after applying the solution or cream.

EFUDEX Storage Instructions: Store efudex in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight.

EFUDEX Missed Dose: If you miss a dose of this medication use it as soon as you remember unless it’s close to the time for your next dose. If this is the case, skip the dose and resume your normal schedule. Do not double up on doses of this medication.

EFUDEX Side Effects: The most common side effects are: burning, discoloration of the skin, pain, itching and skin inflammation.

Special Precautions with EFUDEX: If you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant inform doctor immediately. Do not use if you are allergic/sensitive to any of the constituent in this medication.
