FAMVIR Drug Use: Famvir is used to treat shingles (also known as herpes zoster). Shingles is a painful red rash with red pimples all over the body. This is the same virus as the one that causes chickenpox. Famvir does not cure herpes infections but this drug decreases pain and itching, helps sores to heal, and prevents new ones from forming.

FAMVIR Drug Usage Instructions: Therefore only people who have had chickenpox can get shingles as adults. Take Famvir according to your doctor's prescription. Famvir is used to treat genital herpes and is usually taken twice a day for 5 days.

FAMVIR Storage Instructions: Famvir should be kept in a tightly closed container and out of the reach of children. Store Famvir drug at room temperature and away from excess heat and humidity.

FAMVIR Missed Dose: Take the missed dose of Famvir as soon as you remember it, and take any remaining Famvir doses for that day at uniformly spaced intervals. However, if it is approximately time for the subsequent Famvir dose, skip the missed Famvir dose and continue your regular Famvir dosing schedule. Do not take a double Famvir dose to make up for a missed one. Take Famvir only for as long as prescribed by your doctor.

FAMVIR Side Effects: If you miss a dose of Famvir, you must take Famvir as soon as you remember, except if it's near to the time for the next Famvir dose. If this is the case, skip the missed Famvir dose and resume the normal schedule. Do not double up on the doses of Famvir.

Special Precautions with FAMVIR: The most common side effects of Famvir are: diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, fever, headache and nausea and vomiting. So, you are advised to take Famvir drug only after your doctor's prescription.
