Chemical names: Isosorbide mononitrate

IMDUR (and ISMO) Drug Use: Imdur is prescribed for angina. Imdur helps prevent angina but will not help with an angina attack already underway.

IMDUR (and ISMO) Drug Usage Instructions: Imdur is usually given once a day with food. This medication must be taken exactly as prescribed. Do not crush or cut up the Imdur tablets or that will do away with the long term effective effects of the medication.

IMDUR (and ISMO) Storage Instructions: Store Imdur in a cool dry place. This medication should be kept away from direct sunlight.

IMDUR (and ISMO) Missed Dose: If you miss a Imdur dose take it as soon as you remember, if it's close to the time for the next Imdur dose, skip the previous Imdur dose and resume your normal medication schedule.

IMDUR (and ISMO) Side Effects: The main side effects of Imdur are headache, (which will dissipate with asa or Tylenol); this side effect usually subsides the longer you're on it. Other side effects of Imdur are abdominal pain, abdominal cramps, abnormal hair structure, yeast infection, nasal or sinus infection, joint pain, dry mouth, earache, high blood pressure, fluid retention, impotence, irregular heartbeat, flushing, hot flashes, decreased sex drive, heart attack, inflammation of the tongue, mucus of the lungs. If you have any of these or any others due to this medication, contact your doctor.

Special Precautions with IMDUR (and ISMO): Do not stop taking Imdur suddenly without doctor's supervision. Do not take this medication if allergic to any of Imdurs' constituents. Do not take Imdur if pregnant or are planning on becoming pregnant.
