Drug Name: IMITREX
Pronounced: IM-it-trex
Chemical names: Sumatriptan succinate

IMITREX Drug Use: Sumitriptan is used to treat migraine headaches without the presence of auras. There is also an injectable form of Imitrex available. It is advised to take Imitrex only after the doctor’s prescription.

IMITREX Drug Usage Instructions: Imitrex should be taken as soon as symptoms appear. But will still be helpful if Imitrex is used at anytime during the migraine attack. If the first dose of Imitrex does not work you can repeat in 2 hours. Do not exceed 300mgs of Imitrex in one day (3 tablets).

IMITREX Storage Instructions: Store Imitrex at room temperature in a sealed container. Imitrex should be kept away from direct sunlight and taken strictly according to the doctor’s prescription.

IMITREX Missed Dose: This is not a maintenance medication so you would not miss an Imitrex dose.

IMITREX Side Effects: Side effects of Imitrex, if not taken according to the prescription are, burning sensation, vertigo, dizziness, feeling of tightness, nausea, vomiting, muscle weakness, flushing, neck pain, stiffness, numbness, and tongue discomfort. Others side effects of Imitrex include: agitation, allergic reactions, anxiety, asthma, backache, breast tenderness, confusion, constipation, hives, fever, rash, ringing in the ears, in coordination, illness, hearing loss, changes in heart rhythm. If you have any of these or others contact your doctor.

Special Precautions with IMITREX: Do not use Imitrex if allergic. Severe chest pain can develop so see a doctor immediately if this happens and take Imitrex with doctor's prescription.
