Pronounced: LOH-pid
Chemical names: Gemfibrozil
LOPID Drug Use: Lopid is prescribed for people with high triglycerides in the blood along with a special diet. It can be used to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease for people who have not responded to diet, exercise and weight loss regime.
LOPID Drug Usage Instructions: Lopid is usually given twice a day 30 minutes before eating.
LOPID Storage Instructions: Store at room temperature, in an airtight vial, away from direct sunlight.
LOPID Missed Dose: If you miss a dose of Lopid you should take it as soon as you remember. If it’s too close to the time for your next dose, skip the previous dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not double up on your dose.
LOPID Side Effects: Common side effects are: acute appendicitis, abdominal pain, constipation, headache, fatigue, eczema, indigestion, rash, nausea/vomiting and indigestion. Others include anemia, blood disorders, blurred vision, confusion, convulsions, decreased male fertility, if you have any of these side effects or any others contact your doctor.
Special Precautions with LOPID: Do not take if allergic to any of the components. There is a slight chance that Lopid can cause gallbladder disease and malignancy or abdominal pain.
