Chemical names: lovastatin
MEVACOR Drug Use: Mevacor along with diet and exercise is used to control the amount of cholesterol in the blood. Too much cholesterol can lead to heart attack and stroke.
MEVACOR Drug Usage Instructions: Mevacor is given once a day (20-40mg) usually with the evening meal or at bedtime. The reason for this is the bodies cholesterol is made between 2 and 3am. Do not take with grapefruit juice.
MEVACOR Storage Instructions: Store Mevacor at room temperature in a sealed container away from sunlight.
MEVACOR Missed Dose: If you miss a dose of Mevacor take it as soon as you remember. If it’s too close to the times for the next dose skip the previous dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
MEVACOR Side Effects: The main side effects are: blurred vision, stomach pain, cramps, indigestion, itching, constipation, diarrhea, headache, gas rash, nausea, and weakness. If you have any of these or any not listed contact your doctor.
Special Precautions with MEVACOR: Do not take if allergic to Mevacor or any other statin drug. Do not take Mevacor if you are pregnant or nursing.
