Drug Name: NARDIL
Pronounced: NAHR-dill
Chemical names: phenelzine sulfate
NARDIL Drug Use: This drug is a mono amine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) which is normally used to treat depression. You must use caution when using MAOI’s because there can be very serious effects when taken along with certain foods and drugs. Make sure your doctor is aware of all the medications and food you are taking. Also there is a period of time that you may not be able to take another anti-depressant drug after taking an MAOI.
NARDIL Drug Usage Instructions: The dose of Nardil will be slowly increased by your Doctor. Follow his/her instructions about dosage as well as diet/drink/drug restrictions.
NARDIL Storage Instructions: Nardil should be kept at room temperature, in a sealed container and away from direct sunlight.
NARDIL Missed Dose: If you miss a dose of Nardil take it as soon as you remember except if it’s near to the time for your next dose. If this is the case skip the dose and resume your normal schedule. Do not double dose.
NARDIL Side Effects: The most common side effects are: constipation, nausea, vomiting, headache, fluid retention, low blood pressure, dizziness, drowsiness, sexual difficulties, tremors and twitching. If you have any of these or any others contact your doctor.
Special Precautions with NARDIL: As mentioned above this is an MAOI and can have serious reactions with certain foods and drugs, this is very, very important. Do not take if allergic to Nardil or another MAOI. Do not us ein pregnancy or breastfeeding.
