PEPCID Drug Use: Pepcid is a drug that decreases the amount of acid that you stomach produces. So it is basically to treat heart burn and indigestion and the treatment of duodenal ulcer. It’s given for 4-8 weeks for a benign duodenal ulcer while it’s given for 6 to 8 weeks for a benign gastric ulcer. It is then usually given at a lower dosage as a maintenance dose for an unspecified time (depending on the patient involved).

PEPCID Drug Usage Instructions: It can also be used for short term treatment of gastro esophageal reflux disease, where the flow of acid comes up the esophagus and causes inflammation. You can get Pepcid over the counter in lower doses.

PEPCID Storage Instructions: You need to take Pepcid on a regular basis for it to work well. It is usually give twice a day (20 mg twice a day) with a full glass of water. You can use antacids alongside Pepcid but you should separate the doses between the two by a couple of hours.

PEPCID Missed Dose: Pepcid can be stored at room temperature, in a sealed container, and out of direct sunlight.

PEPCID Side Effects: If you miss a dose of Pepcid take it soon as you remember. If it’s too close to the time for your next dose skip the previous dose and resume your regular schedule.

Special Precautions with PEPCID: By far the most common side effect of Pepcid is headache.
