Chemical names: Hydroxychloroquine sulfate

PLAQUENIL Drug Use: Plaquenil XR is normally prescribed for the treatment of the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis (swelling, joint pain, stiffness). Plaquenil XR can also be used for the prevention and treatment of malaria, as well as for lupus.

PLAQUENIL Drug Usage Instructions: For rheumatoid arthritis Plaquenil XR will take several weeks/months for the full effects of Plaquenil XR to appear. Take Plaquenil XR exactly as prescribed by doctor (some dosage are once a week)

PLAQUENIL Storage Instructions: You can store Plaquenil XR at room temperature, in a sealed container and out of direct sunlight.

PLAQUENIL Missed Dose: If you miss a dose of Plaquenil XR and you are on a once every 7 days schedule you have to take it as soon as you remember then go back to your regular Plaquenil XR schedule.

PLAQUENIL Side Effects: The most common side effects with Plaquenil XR are: stomach cramps, diarrhea, loss of appetite, mild headache, nausea, vomiting, cramps, acne decreased vision blurred vision, blood disorders, hearing loss and emotional changes. Just to name a few. If you experience any of these or others side effects of Plaquenil XR may include not mentioned contact your doctor.

Special Precautions with PLAQUENIL: Do not take Plaquenil XR if allergic. Not to be used for long term therapy. Consult your Doctor if you have ringing in your ears.
