Chemical names: Carbidopa, Levodopa
SINEMET Drug Use: Sinemet is used to treat and relieve the muscle stiffness, tremor, and weakness caused by Parkinson’s disease. It may also be used to relieve Parkinson-like symptoms caused by encephalitis (brain fever), carbon monoxide poisoning, or manganese poisoning.
SINEMET Drug Usage Instructions: Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Take Sinemet CR after meals, rather than before or between meals. Swallow the tablets whole without chewing or crushing them. Do not change or add to your dosage.
SINEMET Storage Instructions: Store at room temperature in a tightly closed container.
SINEMET Missed Dose: Never take 2 doses at the same time. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular dosage schedule.
SINEMET Side Effects: More common side effects may include: confusion, hallucinations, nausea, uncontrollable twitching or jerking.
Special Precautions with SINEMET: Less common or rare side effects may include: abdominal or stomach pain, bleeding from stomach, chest pain, depression, diarrhea, euphoria, fatigue, fluid retention, hair loss, headache, insomnia, irregular heartbeat, locked jaw, memory problems, nervousness, numbness, paranoia, persistent erection, rash, shoulder pain, stomach ulcer, suicidal tendencies, teeth grinding, urinary problems, weight loss or gain, vomiting.
