Chemical names: Itraconazole
SPORANOX Drug Use: Sporanox is used to treat fungal infections. There are 4 main types of fungal infections that Sporanox is used to treat: histoplasmosis, aspergillosis, onchymycosis and blastomycosis. These are all serious fungal infections that can affect heart, kidneys, blood, lungs, nails, bones and skin.
SPORANOX Drug Usage Instructions: Sporanox is taken on a full stomach. Sometimes a carbonated beverage can help with Sporanox absorption.
SPORANOX Storage Instructions: Sporanox should be kept at room temperature, in a sealed container and away from direct sunlight.
SPORANOX Missed Dose: If you miss a dose of Sporanox take it as soon as you remember except if it’s close to the time for the next dose, if this is the case skip the previous dose and just resume your regular schedule.
SPORANOX Side Effects: The most common side effects are: nausea, pain, fever, gas, headache, high blood pressure, diarrhea, indigestion, bursitis, anxiety, rash, urinary infection, swelling, and muscle pain .Other side effects include: itching, hives, tremor, sore throat, gum inflammation, weakness and many others. If you experience these or any others contact your Doctor.
Special Precautions with SPORANOX: Make sure to take the full course of the medication, sometimes it’s given for 2 weeks on then 2 weeks off. Do not take if allergic.
