Drug Name: TRICOR
Pronounced: TRY-core
Chemical names: Fenofibrate

TRICOR Drug Use: Tricor and Lofibra, in conjunction with a special diet, are used to treat people with very high levels of triglycerides (a fatty substance in the blood). Tricor also improves cholesterol levels by lower total cholesterol including “bad” LDL cholesterol and raising “good” HDL cholesterol.

TRICOR Drug Usage Instructions: Tricor should be taken with food. If you’ve also been prescribed a cholesterol-lowering drug such as Questran or Colestid, take Tricor at least 1 hour before or 4 to 6 hours after the other drug to be sure Tricor is properly absorbed. Take exactly as prescribed by your Doctor.

TRICOR Storage Instructions: Store at room temperature and protect from moisture.

TRICOR Missed Dose: Never take 2 doses at the same time. If you miss your dose of Tricor, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular dosage schedule.

TRICOR Side Effects: More common side effects may include: abdominal pain, back pain, headache, respiratory disorders.

Special Precautions with TRICOR: Less common side effects may include: constipation, diarrhea, flu-like symptoms, nausea, runny nose, weakness.
